Privacy Policy
X Bookmark Exporter is a Chrome extension that exports your X bookmarks to a file on your device. This page explains what the extension accesses, why, and what happens to it. We have deliberately kept this short because there is genuinely little to say — your data stays with you.
Your exported bookmarks can be imported into XArchive, our companion viewer, which lets you search, tag, and browse your data offline. Like the extension, XArchive stores everything locally in your browser — no account required, no data on our servers.
Your bookmarks are read at your explicit request and saved directly to a JSON file on your device. They are never transmitted to or stored on our servers at any point.
The extension temporarily reads your X account credentials to authenticate the export request — the same way X's own website does when you browse your bookmarks. These credentials are used only for the duration of the export and are never stored beyond your active session or sent to our servers.
A small amount of data is stored locally in your browser: your license key (if purchased), a technical marker used to keep the export working when X updates their internal API, and a lightweight checkpoint that lets you resume an interrupted export. None of this is transmitted to our servers. It is stored on your device only and can be cleared by removing the extension.
If you purchase a license, your key is stored locally on your device and sent only to our payment provider, Polar.sh, to verify your purchase. We never receive or store your payment details. See Polar's privacy policy for how they handle payment data.
We do not collect, sell, or share your personal data. We do not run analytics or track how you use the extension. We do not operate a server that receives your bookmarks or account information. There is nothing to breach on our end because we hold nothing.
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
